MILK CHOCOLATE 45% • MADAGASCAN VANILLA • SINGLE ORIGIN
High-percentage milk chocolate made from Trinitario cocoa beans grown in the Sambriano River valley of Madagascar. An elegant milk chocolate, whose buttery and vanilla notes recall the delicacy of fondant. All of this is underscored by the fruity and citrus aromas characteristic of Madagascan cocoa beans.
The packaging features a portrait of a woman from the Merina ethnic group – the „People of the Highlands“. The Merina people live in the Antananarivo region called Imerina and are the most numerous group originating from Indonesia or Malaysia, who arrived in Madagascar in the 2nd century BC. It was only later, under the rule of Andrianjaka, that Antananarivo became the capital of the kingdom. The name Imerina was first mentioned at the end of the 16th century by King Ralambo (1575-1610), who christened his kingdom „Imerina Ambaniandro“ – the land high under the sun. Their kings unified the island during the 19th century.

And why the name MENAKAO? Because MENA means red in Malagasy. And red is the color of the soil on which the cocoa trees are grown, soil rich in mineral sediments brought by the Sambirano River. Red like the tones in the color of the chocolate. Red like the Red Island – Madagascar.
